Shakespeare’s Macbeth in Teatro Colon

This week, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires is all about the poetry and the famous words from Shakespeare. Who has heard of the words: “All the perfumes of Arabia could not wash these little hands” might recognize this all-time favourite play. The famous opera Macbeth was created by one of the most popular composers of the 19thcentury; Giuseppe Verdi. This opera derives from the year 1847, where the opera is composed out of 4 acts. The libretto is done by Francesco Maria Piave and in collaboration with Andrea Maffei.

The music of the opera is directed by Stefano Ranzani, a well-known and praised conductor in Teatro Colon. The mise en scene lies in the hands of Marcelo Lombardero and is said to be impressive and extravagent. Sir Macbeth is played by Fabián Veloz and Lady Macbeth by Chiara Taigi, both of them praised by their skill and talent as well.

The opera is held every day this week until the 7th of October, in Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires. The full opera lasts 3,5 hours with two short breaks of 10 minutes.
