Nico and Gonzalo, also known as “Buenos Aires stencil” and “GG” are two street artist in Buenos Aires. They are showing their latest work on cardboard at the Hollywood in Cambodia exhibition space this weekend.

The idea of painting on cardboard began as a kind of mistake. One day the two artists were messing around in their studio with spray cans and card left over from old boxes. They ended up selling their master pieces in a local art sale and before they knew all their work was sold. After this happened Nico and Gonzalo knew that there was a successful future waiting for them.“Carton Pintura” was born.

GG explains that “the name was perfect for us as a concept, especially when looking at everything that is happening right now with street art going to galleries – this is almost ‘Cartón Pintado’, for when you put a show in a gallery you’re no longer a street artist. It is ‘art’ done by a street artist.”

The paintings are in 1950’s cartoon style. They refer to the hypocrisy of society. If you want to have a look at the exhibition, act quickly! The final showing is this weekend!
