During the celebration of this year’s Easter, the biggest Easter bread braid or ‘la trenza de Pascua’ of the country was made in Buenos Aires. On Saturday (the 4th of April), the public was allowed to come and see the braid on Avenida de Mayo, from Bolivar till Chacabuco. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture Porteño, the Confectionery House of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants, Confectionery and Cafés (AHRCC) and the bakers union.
The braid had a length of 150 meter and 24 centimeter wide which was a new record as well. Everybody that wanted to taste, could buy a portion for 20 pesos. 3 liters of Vanilla aroma and 2880 eggs were used in the making and it was filled with pastry cream and rasp of orange and coconut. In total 3500 portions were sold and the money was donated to la Casa Salesiana San Juan Evangelista in the neighborhood of La Boca, Buenos Aires.
