This year for the first time, on October 25, Buenos Aires celebrates the Day of the International Student. During this day students have the opportunity to share their experiences and connect with each other. Goal is to entertain domestic and international students in Buenos Aires and to promote the many academic opportunities available. Also the event is meant to promote Buenos Aires as a place of international study, which is supposed to result in a positive impact on the economy of the city. It is a cooperation of the ministry of Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Economic Development and a Tourism Promotion Agency of Buenos Aires.
The event will take place on October 25, from 13:00pm to 19:00pm in the Metropolitan Design Center (Algarrobo 1041, Barracks neighborhood). There will be live music, exhibition of works by students from various disciplines and information booths from local universities. The entrance is free, but prior registration is required.
In the last few years more and more people have chosen Buenos Aires as a good place to study. The most common courses are the economic studies and social sciences. The majority of the students come from other Latin American countries. The second largest group is people from the United States, while among the European countries France brings in the most students. The academic level is an important factor to study in Buenos Aires, but not the decisive one. The most important reason to come to Argentina’s capital is the cultural attractions. Other reasons are the economic desirability and possibility of learning the language.
