On January 10, 2015 the fourth World Championships of the new Formula E will take place in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires. Therefor Government officials, local authorities and the Automovil Club Argentino (ACA) came together on the 5th of November in Buenos Aires for a press conference to officially welcome the new all-electric FIA Formula E Championship.
To promote the development of the new technologies for sustainable mobility Jean Todt, the president of FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), created this worldwide competition for fully-electric cars called Formula E. Two months ago the first competition took place in Beijing, the next one will take place on 22nd of November in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and 13 December in Punta del Este. After these three competitions it is up to Buenos Aires to host this event on January 10, 2015.
During the conference that took place in the Yacht Club of Puerto Madero, Alejandro Agag, the CEO of Formula E, said about the track built ” Perhaps the most beautiful layout of the season, with some very fast corners like Turn 3 that will be truly spectacular and open opportunities for overtaking.” Agag continued: “Buenos Aires was one of the first cities to embark on this adventure when they still had to build everything so it makes sense that it was chosen to host one of the stages of this inaugural season.”
Agag explained in his presentation that he hopes to help change the mentality and perception of the inhabitants of Buenos Aires about the electric vehicles, because this is the future. Besides that he gave away some information about the course of the race. For example FIA created a FanBoost. With the FanBoost you can vote on your favorite driver. With the vote you allow the driver to have a surplus of power for 5 seconds in each race.
