The AMIA attack was a bombing on the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) in Buenos Aires on July the 18th 1994 that killed 85 people and left hundreds injured. The bombing is known as the deadliest in Argentinean history.
The case has been characterized by incompetence and accusations of cover-ups. In 2005, two Argentinean prosecutors officially accused the Iranian government of directing the attack and the Hezbollah of carrying it out.

Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina ,won the yearly award of Sustainable Transport 2014 due to it’s continuous efforts to reduce the emissions of CO2, improve urban mobility and the walking- and cycling paths in Buenos Aires. The Secretary of Transportation Guillermo Dietrich was honored and proud to receive this award.
Buenos Aires’ largest avenue of the world, called Avenida 9 de Julio, decreased its amount of lanes by changing some of them to bus-only lanes to increase the speed of the public transportation. (more…)

According to WHO (World Health Organization) Buenos Aires is among the capitals of South America with the best quality of air. Out of the results the WHO did, BA seems to be the number three South American capital in the list. Hector Timerman, the Argentinean Foreign Minister arrived this past Monday to Jerusalem in hopes of strengthening ties between Argentina and Israel. This is a result of the fraying ties between Argentina and Iran. In January 2013 the two countries made an agreement to investigate together the bombings against Israeli and Jewish targets in Buenos Aires in the early 1990´s. This horrible terrorist attack killed more than 114 people and wounded around 500. However, Argentina has recently begun to realize that this agreement was a mistake as Iran continues to make excuses for not investigating. (more…)
Whenever travelling to Argentina, you realize quickly their love for soccer and their great pride in the current Pope Francis, who is originally from Argentina. These two important qualities of the country come together as a soccer association was named “Papa Francisco Club” in honor of Jorge Bergoglio after he became Pope. The club of 47 members was founded near Buenos Aires by Jorge Ramírez, a supporter and admirer of Pope Francis. Nevertheless, the Pope has no official connection with this club.

In the whole world, San Marino, a little city state in Italy, is the country with the most female leaders of state in the country’s history. But if we look to the global picture we see that Latin America is actually the continent with the most amount of female leaders.
There are currently four women ruling Latin American countries. Nevertheless, this is nothing new for the countries in this region, which cannot be said, in North America and Europe. North American countries have simply never had a female head of state.
