Del Potro Returns to the US Open
Argentina´s tennis star Juan Martín del Potro returned to the US Open in his first match on Tuesday, August 30th.
Del Potro has not played in the tournament since 2013 due to a nasty wrist injury, for which he had to undergo surgeries and intense rehabilitation.
Del Potro previously won the US Open in 2009, but lost to Lleyton Hewitt the next year in the second round. Ever since then, del Potro has battled a wrist injury in the attempts to make a comeback in his career.
Recently, del Potro has been beating the big names in the tennis community. This includes Stan Wawrinka at Wimbledon and Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal at the Rio Olympics.
In the US Open, he fought past the first round with a victory over Diego Schwartzman, a fellow Argentinian, in three sets.
All eyes will be on del Potro as he conintues to advance in one of the most important tournaments of the year and continues to prove to the world that injury can be overcome.
