Important Swiss Art Fair “Art Basel” in Buenos Aires
Finally the moment arrived: the great Swiss art fair, Art Basel (the most important in the world), began a new and ambitious project in Buenos Aires that was kept in secret for almost a year. Under the Art Basel Cities program, Buenos Aires hosted a delegation of around forty museum directors, curators, specialists and collectors from all over the world, such as Jean de Loisy, director of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
During the fair, these figures will participate in a kind of “action center” at the headquarters of Art Basel, that the organization -together with the Buenos Aires Government– opened last Thursday in the neighborhood of Retiro. There will be activities there until Sunday.
The move was designed to create new relationships among professionals and to bring up unpublished discussions about what art is and what the art market is like today. It was also meant to generate consultancies and internships for people navigating of the art world.
The talks, workshops and tutorials are open to the public and will feature six master workshops that teach, as an example, how to market and advertise in an effective way for an art gallery as well as how to make a non-profit organization sustainable.
