Yesterday at 5PM, there was a big demonstration at the Congreso on Avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires! This demonstration was held against gender violence and in particular violence against women and girls. The main gathering was In Buenos Aires, however, in many other cities across Argentina the BA demonstration was supported with smaller crowds.
Gender violence is a serious theme and there is not enough awareness amongst the people of how serious and big this is. La Casa del Encuentro says that femicide (killing of females because of being a female) alone, claimed the lives of 277 women in the past year in Argentina.
The event was shared among many social media channels to raise more awareness and encourage people to participate in the demonstration. Politics, celebrities and many groups participated in the march. In total thousands of people were at the Congreso to raise their voice for the women and girls.
