The 18th edition of Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI) will take place from April 13 until April 24, 2016. BAFICI is a phenomenon in Buenos Aires and it continues to grow each year. The festival is a real experience and is a must-go for cinema lovers. Argentine filmmakers had the chance to submit their films until January 15, 2016. The jury will decide on which films are the lucky prize winners. There are three jury´s at the BAFICI:
Time Warp is an annual electronic music festival which is originally from Germany. The first edition was in 1994 on the other side of the river Rhine in Ludwisghafe. They organize the parties in different countries, than just Germany, and on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th of April there is an edition in Buenos Aires.
The party is in Costa Salguero, Pabellones 2, 3 and 5. On Friday it starts at 21.00 o‘clock and on Saturday at 20.00 o´clock. A ticket costs 945 pesos and gives you entrance for both days. From origin it is an Irish holiday, but St Patrick’s Day (March 17) is becoming more and more popular around the whole world. What is the story behind this holiday and why is everyone wearing green on St Patrick’s Day? Saint Patrick is very important for the Catholic Church in Ireland; some even claim that he established Catholicism as the official religion in Ireland. On St Patrick’s Day, the Irish celebrate the work he has done, moreover he baptized hundreds of people and he was very important in establishing Catholicism in Ireland. It has not been a good month for dolphins, as 23 have been found dead along the coast of Buenos Aires this past week. Just a month ago, one dead dolphin was found in the same area after some ruthless people killed a dolphin so they could take a selfie with it.
The dead dolphins were found on various beaches in the Buenos Aires Province: San Clemente de Tuyú, Mar de Ajó, La Lucina, Aguad Verdes, Las Toninas and Santa Teresita.
The affected dolphins are of the La Plata species, which the International Union for the Conservation of Nature has declared to be vulnerable. (more…)
La Noche de Las Librerias (Night of the Libraries) in Buenos Aires is an event which is interesting for people of all ages. Activities for the whole family will take place, for example talks with authors, live narration, short tutorials and games. Rugby fans, pay attention, Super Rugby 2016 has officially started! The first match took place on February 26 and the finals will be on August 5. Super Rugby is one of the most important and exciting international rugby competitions in the world. Apart from All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks, this year´s competition will include the participation of Argentina´s rugby team for the very first time! The team is called Jaguares and they are determined to make their country proud by playing at their very best. With almost 100 running events a year, Buenos Aires can say that it’s the capital ´running city´ of South-America. Compared to other cities as Bogota, Sao Paula and Santiago, Buenos Aires has the highest numbers. 80 percent of the running events are held in Argentina, and most of them in the metropolitan area.

Buenos Aires is heaven for festival lovers: there are so many festivals: music festivals, theater festivals, food festivals, tango festivals and more. For March there is the Lollapalooza festival on the program.
Lollapalooza is a music festival with different genres of music, going from rock to hiphop, punk rock, heavy metal and dance. There are also dance and comedy performances and you will also find craft booths.
