The Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has announced that Argentina plans to return archeological artefacts to their South American neighbors including Peru and Ecuador. She commented at the ceremony that she is doing something special and wants to encourage other countries to do the same:
“It is an honor and a pleasure to restore the cultural wealth of countries such as Ecuador and Peru in a world where such wealth has so often been taken away”.

The voting system in Buenos Aires has a premiere! For the upcoming elections on the 5th of July, it will be the first time that the people of Buenos Aires are able to vote electronically. In the weeks before the election, the local government promoted the new system to let the public get acquainted with voting electronically. In various locations in the city, a test machine allowed people to try and get comfortable with this new Sistema de Boleta Única Electrónica (BUE) or the unique electronic ticket system. Yesterday at 5PM, there was a big demonstration at the Congreso on Avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires! This demonstration was held against gender violence and in particular violence against women and girls. The main gathering was In Buenos Aires, however, in many other cities across Argentina the BA demonstration was supported with smaller crowds.

On the 25th of May Argentina celebrates the May Revolution. This year more than 40 different communities came together to celebrate this big day in Parque de los Patricios. Approximately 30.000 people participated and visited the event with 80 different stands from different countries represented in the city of Buenos Aires. People could taste and enjoy their typical food and drinks.
The festivities started with a beautiful parade of antique cars from el Rosedal in Palermo to Parque de los Patricios in which almost 40 cars participated. (more…)
Changing dollars or other foreign currencies stopped to be an activity exclusively for the Arbolitos – people who owe their name to the fact that they are standing at the same place all day exchanging (green) dollar bills, the color of the trees – at Florida Street in the city center of Buenos Aires. These days, several kiosks have also joined the exchange circuit.

The tunnels of Avenida 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires, which purposes are to speed up the movement of the buses and to avoid congestion in the city center, will be optimized to improve the connection between the city’s downtown and the Constitution Square, an area with a lot of public transport. The impressive viaducts, located at Avenida San Juan, will be inaugurated during the first days of June.
Most of the work is already completed. The only things left to be finished are the details of the paintings and the electrical systems so that, in the upcoming days, the eleven bus lines that are currently using the roads of Avenida 9 de Julio (more…)
Buenos Aires Extremo. Skaters, BMXers and extreme sport fans, your day has come! On Sunday the 24th of May it is time for the second edition of “Buenos Aires Extremo”. In Parque de Costanera Norte you can enjoy all day watching performances, competitions and music. The free event will start at 10.00 and will finish around 18.00 with a great show of the band Massacre.
During the day there will be various competitions in which more than 30 contestants compete for ARG$30.000 in prizes per category. (more…)
The moment arrived that all circus lovers has been waiting for! On the 7th of May, “Buenos Aires Polo Circo” has started its 7th edition of the International Circus Festival. The festival takes place at various venues in Buenos Aires whereby the national and international circus acts reach every neighborhood in Buenos Aires. A few examples of places are: Buenos Aires Polo Circo en Av. Juan de Garay 2051; Centro Cultural San Martín en Sarmiento 1551 y Complejo Cultural Teatro 25 de Mayo en Triunvirato 4444. There will also be conferences and workshops. You can visit the event until the 17th of May.
