On January 10, 2015 the fourth World Championships of the new Formula E will take place in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires. Therefor Government officials, local authorities and the Automovil Club Argentino (ACA) came together on the 5th of November in Buenos Aires for a press conference to officially welcome the new all-electric FIA Formula E Championship.

The President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is in hospital in Buenos Aires, she is suffering an ´infectious fever´ according to officials.
An official statement explained that the 61 year old President went to the hospital because she felt sick on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier this year the President had to cancel some official trips due to a series of health problems. Last year she got operated to treat bleeding on the brain and a throat infection caused her absence in this year´s Independence Day celebrations.

Throughout the world everyone knows about that day that we have a good excuse to dress up like a zombie or scary witch. The scariest day of the year: Halloween. Celebrating Halloween has become more popular in Buenos Aires. Nowadays the bars, pubs and clubs all celebrate this event.

Argentina has a new national Park. It was created in El Impenetrable forest in the province of Chaco. The reserve contains 128,000 hectares and is meant for the protection of indigenous forest and the endangered animal species living here such as the yaguareté, tatú carreta, and crowned solitary eagle.
The Lower House of Congress passed the law to create the national park with only one vote against. Thanks to the campaign called ‘Deja tu Huella: Una Reserva por más Reservas‘(‘Leave your Footprint: A Reserve for More Reserves’) (more…)
Today temperatures of 35° Celsius are expected in Buenos Aires. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) the high temperatures in the cities of north and central Argentina will persist until at least Tuesday. Rainfalls are expected later on.
Silvia Gómez of the SMN explained that the mass of warm air is caused by the blockage of a high pressure system that provides winds from the north.
The northern wind causes ´high minimum and maximum temperatures, sometimes too high for this time of the year´ stated the meteorologist.

Atlas, the titan, was condemned to bear the weight of the world on his shoulders. Now, a statue of Atlas is carrying the weight of the branches of the oldest gum tree in Buenos Aires, replacing one of the concrete columns. The tree, planted in 1781, can be found in Recoleta and is known as the “Gomero de la Recoleta”.

Because of a lack of planning by the government of Buenos Aires, two brand new metro stops will be taken down. The two stops on 9 de Julio Street were built just last year costing $4 million. They will now be replaced by a new stop.
The construction of the metro bus provoked a series of protests last year due to its environmental impact, costs, and its effectiveness to solve traffic congestion. The works continued anyway and the metro bus was put into operation on the 24th of July 2013. (more…)
This year for the first time, on October 25, Buenos Aires celebrates the Day of the International Student. During this day students have the opportunity to share their experiences and connect with each other. Goal is to entertain domestic and international students in Buenos Aires and to promote the many academic opportunities available. Also the event is meant to promote Buenos Aires as a place of international study, which is supposed to result in a positive impact on the economy of the city. On Thursday morning, October 23, public bus line 75 drove into a morgue, 12 people got injured and three of them needed to go to the hospital.
This morning in the center of Buenos Aires an accident occurred. The driver of a public bus lost control over the wheel and crashed into a morgue. The bus first hit a gas shed, where work was being done to check if there had been a gas leak, and later slammed into the morgue. A spokesman of the System of Emergency Medical Care confirmed that 12 people got injured (more…)
