On the 26th of April 2014, King Willem Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands will celebrate their first “Koningsdag” (Kings Day). It is a Dutch National holiday that marks the birthday of the Dutch king, which is actually on the 27th.
On the 30th of April 2013, Máxima Zorreguieta became the first not-Dutch queen of The Netherlands. Máxima was born in Buenos Aires in 1971 as a daughter of Jorge Zorreguieta, a man whose reputation was harmed because he had a political role in the regime of the Argentinian dictator Videla. The whole world knows Argentina is famous for football and football players. More than 50% of all football clubs are settled in the province of Buenos Aires. To give you an overview of the most important ones we made this scheme listing the best known teams in the city and those in the province of Buenos Aires.

Whenever travelling to Argentina, you realize quickly their love for soccer and their great pride in the current Pope Francis, who is originally from Argentina. These two important qualities of the country come together as a soccer association was named “Papa Francisco Club” in honor of Jorge Bergoglio after he became Pope. The club of 47 members was founded near Buenos Aires by Jorge Ramírez, a supporter and admirer of Pope Francis. Nevertheless, the Pope has no official connection with this club.

In the whole world, San Marino, a little city state in Italy, is the country with the most female leaders of state in the country’s history. But if we look to the global picture we see that Latin America is actually the continent with the most amount of female leaders.
There are currently four women ruling Latin American countries. Nevertheless, this is nothing new for the countries in this region, which cannot be said, in North America and Europe. North American countries have simply never had a female head of state.

Travelling by bus is a very common means of transportation when exploring Argentina. Unfortunately, a long distance “Chevallier” bus recently crashed with 26 passengers on board. It was on its way from Buenos Aires to Mendoza on April 12, 2014 when it wrecked due to bizarre circumstances.
The crash was the result of a series of unfortunate events. First of all, the bus was on a road that lies next to the river “Rio Quinto” that flooded some days before the accident happened. Later, the flood caused cracks in the road which made part of the road collapse. (more…)
While travelling or living in Buenos Aires, there are always fun festivals or exciting fairs taking place. For the past week and a half, a large food event has been going on where many restaurants offer delicious food at discounted prices. The third Buenos Aires Food Week has almost come to an end as it is a two-week event from April 1-14. Over 40 restaurants are participating and offering exceptional food at great prices and today is the last day!
All of the restaurants offer three-course meals at a fixed price of $140 Argentine pesos for lunch and $220 Argentina pesos for dinner. (more…)
Argentina has always been an amazing country to get to know and see. One of the many places to visit is the small lakeside town of Epecuen, a 550 kilometer-drive from Buenos Aires. It used to be a small tourist resort, bringing in over 20,000 visitors each season. The lake is well-known for having 10 times more salt than the ocean, thus making the water buoyant. Visitors from Buenos Aires used to come to the lake and enjoy floating in the water.
Then on November 10, 1985 an extremely strong rainstorm came after many wet winters and the lake overflowed. (more…)
The government of “la Ciudad de Buenos Aires” wants to encourage the use of bicycles in the city, says “Coches Furgones”. A possible project is introducing special wagons for subtes to take your bike with you, like it happens with normal trains.
Since 2009 BA invested in new cycle pads and other infrastructure for cyclers. This is why the amount of people who prefer going to school/work has increased by 5 times as much as before 2009.The problem for Buenos Aires is that the city is more than 203.3km² big, and that makes going from for example the north to the south impossible by bike.
