Citizens of and visitors to Buenos Aires will have to plan to remain in chilly conditions. National weather predicitions indicate that temperatures will not reach above 11 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
Rain is also predicted for the next few days, coming hand in hand with the cold temperatures that are expected to be between 5 and 12 degrees Celsius. Expect some wind, as well. Bundle up and stay warm throughout this next week!
A roller coaster week of weather is predicted for Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and southern Brazil. There will likely be a combination of extreme heat, followed by a rapid cooldown with rainstorms here and there. If you don´t like the weather, just wait half an hour.
The beginning of spring is upon us in the Southern Hemisphere, and Argentina and southern Brazil will experience some early summer weather as unusually warm weather builds.

Once again, Argentine couples retained their top spot in tango dancing, as the annual festival held in Buenos Aires ended. Guido Palacios and Florencia Castilla, who are actually a couple in real life as well as in dance, swept the the Stage Tango finals this past Tuesday, scoring 8.89, from a jury comprised of seven dancers and choreographers.
Twenty couples from around the world were left to compete in the Stage finals held at the end of the 2 weeks, but the hometown couples impressed the judges the most as they performed for a large crowd (more…)
Kenneth Kemble was one of Argentinas most important artistsduring the abstract tachisme or art informel movement. Kemble was born in July of 1923 in Buenos Aires, and moved to Paris in the 1950s. There he studied art with the famous French artist André Lhote. Later, after returning to Argentina in 1956, he began creating collages out of materials such as paper, rags and tree bark. He quickly became part of the local informel movement, showing his works both locally and internationally.
He relocated to Boston in the 1960s, and there he began experimenting with geometric figures (more…)
The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA) in the Recoleta area of Buenos Aires is presenting a new exhibit this week, with the work of Pío Collivadino, an Argentine artist famous for his portrayal of the landscapes of the city. The artist, who was born in 1869, was an expat in Italy from 1890-1906 where he studied art and got his education. Upon his return to Buenos Aires, he cofounded the Nexus group along with Fernando Fader, Cesáreo Bernaldo de Quirós, Carlos Ripamonte, Justo Lynch, Alberto Rossi and the famous sculptors Arturo Dresco and Rogelio Yrurtia. The World Press Photo Exhibition is back after several years! The winning photos from the World Press Photo Contest, will be displayed in a show that that travels to 100 cities worldwide, beginning in April in Amsterdam and continuing until the following March.
This year’s exhibition includes all the images selected by an international, independent jury from a total of 103,481 total photos entered in the contest. In July of 2013 the winners will be showcased in Buenos Aires, at Palais de Glace.

Buenos Aires (Argentina) beat out Glasgow (Great Britain) and Medellín (Colombia) to become the host of the Youth Olympics in 2018. To see the full outcome of the vote, read below.
Prior to voting, the Candidate Cities were each alloted 15 minutes to present to the Session, after which they had to answer questions. Evaluation Commission Chair Claudia Boke announced the decision to the Session on behalf of the Commission.
