Tourism High in Buenos Aires
Tourism has been high in the city Buenos Aires over the last three months. According to the City Tourism Office of Buenos Aires, a reported 500,000 tourists visited the city during the months of November, December, and January.
The tourists have been mainly from North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. However, many of the tourists have also come from other Argentine provinces.
Furthermore, Buenos Aires was the top holiday destination in January, even over Bariloche, Mendoza, and other touristic cities. (more…)
Creator Humans of New York in Buenos Aires
Brandon Stanton, the creator of the popular photo blog Humans of New York is in Buenos Aires, as part of his South American tour.
While Humans of New York is focused on human interest stories from New York City, this isn´t the first time that Stanton has left the United States. Stanton is famous for taking photos of people from all around the world and sharing their stories.

Argentina´s Tennis Star Juan Martin del Potro is out for the Davis Cup
Next month, Argentina will face Italy in the next round of the Davis Cup. Unfortunately, Argentina´s tennis star Juan Martin del Potro is out for this tournament.
The captain of the Argentinian team, Daniel Orsanic, has officially made the announcement that Del Potro will not be participating.
The listed players are Diego Schwartzman, Horacio Zeballos, Guido Pella, and Leonardo Mayer. The matches will take place on February 3rd through the 5th at a park in Buenos Aires. (more…)
Donald Trump Makes Trade Changes with Argentina
Donald Trump had made some trade changes with Argentina, in which he prohibited lemon imports from Argentina.
This restriction will last for 60 days. Ironically, this change was made just a month after the US Congress authorized citric shipments from Argentina.
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced the restriction of Argentinian lemons after the newly inaugurated president asserted the importance of American products.

Buenos Aires Statue of Lionel Messi is Demolished
Recently, a Buenos Aires Statue of Lionel Messi was completely demolished. The statue was constructed at the end of June of last year, and was recently sabotaged.
Statues have also been constructed of other Argentinian athletes, such as Manu Ginobili (basketball), Gabriela Sabatini (tennis), Guillermo Vilas (tennis), Juan Manuel Fangio (Formula One), and Luciana Aymar (hockey).
Lionel Messi´s statue was targeted, as its head, torso, and arms are now missing. In addition, Sabatini´s statue was previously targeted a few years back (more…)
Argentina Welcomes Tony Allen
Argentina welcomes the famous Tony Allen in February! Tony Allen is a famous Nigerian drummer who has taken the afrobeat to new levels.
Allen used to star in Africa ´70, a band that was popular in the 1970s. After he left the band, it was said that numerous drummers were needed to replace Allen´s amazing sound. He truly is one of a kind!
Allen has made over 30 albums, all with a very unique sound. He has created a new perspective of African music, as he mixed funk, jazz, and Nigerian sound.

Orca whale spotted in Buenos Aires
An orca whale was spotted in the region of southern Buenos Aires, close to Bahía Blanca. The so-called killer whale came close to shore, causing eye witnesses to flee from the water back to land.
It is difficult to predict what these animals would really do when encountering a swimmer, but the result can be fatal for humans. However, it is not the first time orca whales are spotted on the coast.
In addition, this can create more opportunities for research of these extraordinary animals as they like to live and travel in groups. (more…)
Factory in Buenos Aires burns down.
A factory in southern Buenos Aires burned down a few days ago as the mattress factory in Avellandea caught a big fire and burned for several hours.
The Simmons factory stretches three blocks on to Heredia street and is close to the mall Alto Avellaneda. The building was evacuated and more than 20 fire trucks were needed.
Furthermore, the fire was stopped, but there is a lot of damage and will require a lot of reconstruction.
Moreover, the factory´s storage area is mostly destroyed, but some major parts were saved. (more…)
