Project Graffiti on Uruguay Street Buenos Aires

In the upcoming weeks, many graffiti artists will be working on a great project called “Proyecto Persiana” on Uruguay street, close to the micro center in Buenos Aires. They will be repainting (or spray painting) all the shutters of the little shops that are located in this area. The aim of this project is to create a prettier and more colourful neighbourhood and to support the graffiti and artistic community here in Buenos Aires.

Every Sunday, you can watch the artists in their element and you can even help them paint if you ask. The general idea is to make the whole neighbourhood (or in this case, the street) beautiful and more alive if you work together. So, get your magic brush and come over to Uruguay Street. (more…)

The International Short Film Festival took place in Buenos Aires starting on Thursday, October 6th and running until Sunday, October 9th.

This Short Film Festival originally began in 2002, but Buenos Aires wasn´t a host until 2014. The festival also takes place in various cities throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America each year.

The manager of the Film Festival in Buenos Aires, Juan Pablo Franky, asserted Buenos Aires´ participation in the event to a local Buenos Aires newspaper: ´´It´s undeniable that Buenos Aires is a famous cosmopolitan city with a busy cultural agenda, and yet it´s always willing to enrich and expand its cultural industries.´´

Bill Passed in Buenos Aires Prevents Agrochemical Use in the City

A bill was recently passed in the city of Buenos Aires that prevents agrochemical use in the city. The bill received extensive support for a variety of political groups in Buenos Aires.

Specifically, the law now prohibits the use of synthetic herbicides on public and private land throughout Buenos Aires.

An official of the Partido Socialista Auténtico (PSA), Adrián Camps, is the government leader who promoted and supported this bill.

Camps was especially adamant about the problem of chemical use along railroad tracks and other locations. Although the chemicals were used with good intent to prevent weeds from growing, they are toxic to the people who live close to these areas. (more…)

Gol, one of Brazil´s main airlines, will be adding at least 250 extra flights for the upcoming months. Because of this, Argentinians are flocking to Brazil.

During 2 weeks, more than 40 restaurants will provide people with special offers intended to promote their menu´s and the use of local ingredients meant for creating a more healthy way of cooking that doesn’t harm the environment. In most of the restaurants, these offers include an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert. Prices can vary from $170 to $350 pesos and exclude drinks and services. Argentina´s tennis star Juan Martín del Potro returned to the US Open in his first match on Tuesday, August 30th.

Del Potro has not played in the tournament since 2013 due to a nasty wrist injury, for which he had to undergo surgeries and intense rehabilitation.

Del Potro previously won the US Open in 2009, but lost to Lleyton Hewitt the next year in the second round. Ever since then, del Potro has battled a wrist injury in the attempts to make a comeback in his career. (more…)

Argentina´s World Cup Team: Aguero is out and Messi returns!

As Argentina´s first game in the World Cup qualifiers approaches, some changes are being made in the team´s line-up. Sergio Aguero has pulled out and Lionel Messi has confirmed his return to the national team.

Aguero was injured in the game against West Ham over the weekend. According to the medical staff, he has pulled his left calf muscle and will be out for at least the first game of the World Cup qualifiers.

In addition, Javier Pastore also pulled a calf muscle, so he won´t be able to play in at least the first two games of the qualifiers. (more…)
