After 26 days of absence President Cristina Fernández made her first public appearance. She made her comeback during the annual convention of the Argentine Chamber of Construction in Buenos Aires.
During President Fernández’ 40-minute speech she discharged the changes on the income tax before the end of the year, by saying: “How can we finance public works if we don’t collect taxes?” She continued by saying that Argentine workers are still the best paid in the whole of Latin America. The union leaders were not happy with the words of the president. They expected a speech in which the president would announce the acquittal on payment of income tax on the half-yearly bonus in December.
The president has been recovering from an inflammation of the colon. She will now resume her activities. From the 4th to the 5th of December the president will travel to the Unasur summit in Ecuador. She will host a meeting of Mercosur heads of state in Paraná, Entre Ríos, between the 14th and 18th December. On her doctor’s advice, she will not travel to the Book Fair and Ibero-American Summit in Mexico.
