Buenos Aires Won Sustainable Transport Award

Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina ,won the yearly award of Sustainable Transport 2014 due to it’s continuous efforts to reduce the emissions of CO2, improve urban mobility and the walking- and cycling paths in Buenos Aires. The Secretary of Transportation Guillermo Dietrich was honored and proud to receive this award.

Buenos Aires’ largest avenue of the world, called Avenida 9 de Julio,  decreased its amount of lanes by changing some of  them to bus-only lanes to increase the speed of the public transportation. (more…)

According to WHO (World Health Organization) Buenos Aires is among the capitals of South America with the best quality of air. Out of the results the WHO did, BA seems to be the number three South American capital in the list. Only Montevideo (Uruguay) and San Jose (Costa Rica) have cleaner air.Buenos Aires is listed before México City (Mexico), Santiago (Chile) , Lima (Peru) , Bogota (Colombia) , Quito (Ecuador) and Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Hector Timerman, the Argentinean Foreign Minister arrived this past Monday to Jerusalem in hopes of strengthening ties between Argentina and Israel. This is a result of the fraying ties between Argentina and Iran. In January 2013 the two countries made an agreement to investigate together the bombings against Israeli and Jewish targets in Buenos Aires in the early 1990´s. This horrible terrorist attack killed more than 114 people and wounded around 500. However, Argentina has recently begun to realize that this agreement was a mistake as Iran continues to make excuses for not investigating. (more…)

In June 2013 Coca-Cola Life was introduced on the market in Argentina. It was the only country that was part of the test program of Coca-Cola’s newest creation until Chile joined the program in November that year.

‘Coca-Cola Life’ is an alternative for those who like the usual, enormously sugared Coke but do not want to drink ‘Coca-Cola Light’ or ‘Zero’ because of the different taste. This version is made with less sugar and it is the first time that ‘Coca-Cola Company’ has used ‘stevia’, a natural alternative for sugar.

On the 30th of April 2013, Máxima Zorreguieta became the first not-Dutch queen of The Netherlands. Máxima was born in Buenos Aires in 1971 as a daughter of Jorge Zorreguieta, a man whose reputation was harmed because he had a political role in the regime of the Argentinian dictator Videla.
