The National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires has a new exhibition…“Botero, drawings on canvas and paper”, a display of 50 drawings by the famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero (born in Medellín, 1932). These works are all part of the artist´s personal collection, which is displayed infrequently, and then only in museums.
Botero uses watercolor, pencil, pastel, ink and charcoal on paper and canvas. He is especially skilled at working with sanguine, which is a soft, dark red pencil. This is a difficult skill rarely used by artists.

On May 26, 2013, the Auditorium of Buenos Aires Design Center (Av. Pueyrredon 2501, Recoleta. Level 2) will begin hosting Beer Day Festival, an event focusing on the tasting of specialty beers. The Festival with consist of 20 breweries from different parts of the country, together in one place showcasing their brews.
During the festival, guests will have the opportunity to practice cooking with beer, and trying dishes accompanied by the different specialty beers; to try more than 50 styles of beer; and to attend to talks about food pairing, sensory analysis of beer, the tasting process and the history of beer. From Sunday, May 12th to Sunday, May 26th, 2013, Buenos Aires City Tango Dance Championship 2013 will be hosted in various “milongas”, theaters, and cultural centers throughout the city.
The competition is on the lookout for new winning couples in the following categories – Tango de Pista, Milonga, “Milongueros” of the World, and Waltz. The winners will qualify to participate in the World Tango Dance Championship in Buenos Aires in August of 2013.

25th of April – 13th of May- International Book Fair. Buenos Aires is known as a very literary city, and a great place to experience this is the annual book fair. You can thumb through books, buy some, and attend seminars. The theme of the festival this year is Books as Bridges, with a special focus on literature from Holland.
9th of May – Gallery Nights. The monthly art event will take place at galleries in Palermo, Recoleta and Retiro.

Good news, we are currently right in the midst of the one of the two best times of year to visit Buenos Aires, from April-June (fall) or from September-December (spring). These seasons provide us with mild temperatures, beautiful foliage and very little crowding. During the fall and spring, you can also get cheaper prices for accommodations. Summertime in Buenos Aires (January and February) means heavy crowds and high prices. While summertime is still a popular time to visit, temperatures soar the 90s (F) and the air can be extremely humid.
