“Mafalda in your soup", that is the name of a new exhibition at the National Library in Buenos Aires. It will start Wednesday 17 September to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the cartoon character. The exposition shows sketches that Mafalda’s creator Quino (real name: Joaquín Salvador Lavado) made of her, and also books, translations and photographs. Even 50 years after her creation she is still a popular character.
Mafalda is a comic strip featuring a 6 year old girl. She reflects the Argentinian middle class and progressive youth concerned about humanity and world peace. (more…)
Just like every year in April and May, Buenos Aires will be the place to be for all Spanish literature lovers. From the 24th of April to the 12th of May you can go to the Buenos Aires International Book Fair to get that one book you always wanted, or a quick talk with your favourite writer.
It’s not just ‘a’ festival of books, it is the 40th edition. This means that it will be bigger than before. There will be a lot of international guests, like Juan José Campanella, Anne Marie Chartier, Eugenio Echeverría, Grazia Gotti and Luis González Martin. (more…)
