President Macri from Argentina has announced that he will launch a new energy program that will make use of renewable energy. There will be a public tender that detail which companies offer government services and it will function off of a bidding process. The idea is this: that the new renewable energy sources should provide 8 percent of the national usage of electricity by December 2017. For December 2025, their goal is to increase that number up to 20 percent.

Argentine labour leader Hugo Moyano has criticized President´s Mauricio Macri´s government heavily. Moyano said that “you must take things as they come. He has no political experience, and that makes you make those kinds of mistakes, but at this stage, it’s not surprising, and a lot less considering what is happening and without giving answers.” Moyano insisted unions in Buenos Aires may launch a national strike in the next coming days, because “everyone knew the economic situation left by the previous government was complex, with a complex social scene. The President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, is named in the Panama Papers in which he was listed as director of an offshore company in the Bahamas. During a television broadcast, Macri vowed that he had done nothing wrong and stated that he was telling the truth. Moreover, Macri said that he will pledge not guilty when he has to appear for a federal prosecutor. Macri claims that he had no shares in the offshore company and he never received any income from it.
In 2007 Macri became mayor of Buenos Aires and he did not list the offshore company in his 2007 financial declaration. (more…)
Mauricio Macro, the centre-right mayor of the city of Buenos Aires, was elected on Sunday 22 November to become Argentina’s 53th president.
The candidate from the Cambiemos party won with 51,40% of the votes against Victory Front’s Daniel Scioli. Macri will be sworn in on 10 December for a term of four years.
Born on 8 February 1959, Tandil, he is a member of one of Argentina’s richest families and son of the business magnate Franco Macri. He will be the first non-Peronist president since 2001. (more…)
