The sad story of the last polar bear in Argentina

Arturo is the name of a famous 29 year old polar bear that lives in the Argentinean Mendoza Zoo.

Arturo was born in 1985 in a zoo in Colorado in the United States. He lived here until they decided to move him in 1993 to Buenos Aires to keep company to a female polar bear Pelula. But Pelula died in 2012 and since then Arturo lives alone and, according to many people, depressed.

And now he is already making the news for months because animal right campaigners are criticizing the conditions he is living in at the zoo (more…)
