Buenos Aires is the big surprise in the annual voting of cities to visit on the website of Trip Advisor this year.
The capital of Argentina changed its 14th spot to a well-deserved 8th. The tourists have spoken and place the city ahead of others such as New York and close to cities as Rome or London.
The top 10 is led by the Moroccan city Marrakech and Buenos Aires is the only Latin American destination in the top 10 ranking. The users of the world’s largest social network especially value the vitality of the city, with a mix of the European architecture in its antique neighborhoods, Tango and other romantic places that attract more tourists every day.
One of the biggest attractions of the capital is its heritage. Places such as Café Tortoni, the most historic bar of the city, will take you back to 1858. Another spectacular spot is Teatro Colón, which dates from 1908. Tourists consider Buenos Aires as the commercial capital of South America.
The tourism board of Buenos Aires is not surprised by the results. Last year, 11 million people visited the capital, of which 2.5 million were foreigners.
